Spirulina, nori, and other seaweeds are often described as plant-based sources of B12, and some early testing did detect B12-like compounds in them. But more precise follow-up research found that a large portion of what was detected is actually pseudo-B12 (B12 analogs) that lack the biological activity humans need, and may even interfere with the detection and metabolism of real B12. Some fermented soy products, like tempeh, occasionally show trace amounts of active B12 due to incidental microbial contamination during fermentation, but the amount is highly inconsistent and can't be counted on as a reliable source either.
