What's the trick to not having to repeatedly explain "no meat" to delivery restaurants?

Don't just write "no meat" in the notes — a lot of restaurants either don't read carefully or the message doesn't make it to the kitchen. It helps to be more specific, like: "No ground meat, no ham, no bacon, and if the soup or sauce is meat-based, please swap it for a clear broth, thank you." Naming the hidden meat items that are easiest to overlook — ground meat, stock, bacon bits, diced ham — works a lot better than just saying "vegetarian" in general. Before ordering, you can also message customer service directly and ask whether a specific dish's broth or sauce contains meat, and only order once you get a clear answer — that's more reliable than just adding a note and hoping. For the places you order from regularly, it helps to build your own "safe menu" list so you can just order straight from it next time instead of going through the whole explanation again.

I usually add one more line at the end of my delivery notes: "If this can't be accommodated, please call me." Restaurants tend to take it more seriously when they see you're open to a quick call — some places will even call to confirm the specifics directly, which is a lot more effective than just writing a wall of notes. I'd especially recommend doing this for dishes you're not fully sure about.
